Whipple Residence Project Details:

• Designer: Postcards From Paris – Linda McDougald

• Antique French Oak with Antiqued face texture

• European Oil Finish

This beautiful custom home, built by Gabriel Builders, in The Cliffs at Mountain Park is this week’s featured project. It is a finely crafted mountain home, with an absolutely stunning view.

In designing this project, Linda McDougald and the team at Postcards from Paris wanted a period correct floor for a mountain house that would invoke a European feel to the ambiance of the home. The homeowner had one major concern; they had two large dogs, whom stay inside the home, so above all, they needed durability.

To bring the aesthetic of the design together with the durability needs of the customer, we suggested our Antique French Oak (due to its unique gran and definition) and coupled it with an Antiqued face texture, a deep chemical treatment to color the wood, and finished it off with our European Oil Finish, which is an impregnated oil.

Historically this finish combination is the best offering for our clients with pets in the home, or even those who entertain regularly.

For the grand salon and foyer, we crafted a Brittney Marquetry out of the French oak as well. It ties the foyer and hallway to the Dining and Living rooms as well as the entry to the Master Suite.

Is this the hardwood floor for you? At Natural Creations, we can bring this same luxury and durability to your next project. We would also like to take a moment and invite you to join Burchette and Burchette, Gabriel Builders and the Whipple family in the support of a fabulous charity that serves the children of Haiti. The charity, ‘Be Like Brit’, was started to establish a safe, nurturing and sustainable orphanage in an environment where Haitian children can grow, learn & thrive.

The Orphanage was built in loving memory of Britney Gengel, who perished in the 2010 Haiti earthquake while on a service trip through her college. Please continue to the Be Like Brit website to learn more about the amazing story and work of this great organization.

We’re very fortunate and proud to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause alongside others within the building and design industries.
