A Curated Home is a Labor of love, something that isn’t for the faint of heart. In Construction, a Curated Home takes a unique team. This process is much different than building spec homes and multi-family condos. It takes an Architect who is committed to the story of the house and the client’s needs. It takes a Home Builder with discipline to see the culmination of a million parts assembled with great detail in an environment that is often nothing short of organized chaos. It takes an Interior Designer with a keen eye and style. One who will assemble the palettes and texture, vendors and artisans with a devotion to their craft, who all believe their part and contribution to the home is the most important. This event aims to assemble a group that is the finest in their fields, with a common goal of seeking partnerships with a joined vision.
ARCHITECTS
The common theme among the architects in attendance is that they all approach their design with the “home telling the story,” in many ways, that story is a multi-generational treasure for the client. Something that the children and grandchildren can reminisce about. Whether that is the summer vacation to the Cashiers Mountain House, the Shingle House on the cape, or the ranch home in Montana, all create a genuine atmosphere. It is often about creating experiences and memories and doing so in such a way that serves the client’s lifestyle effectively.
Interior Design is what makes a House the Home. It is what creates “theatre” and “drama”. What makes a great Interior Designer? It is certainly not a million followers on Instagram. We argue several factors: a strong eye and appreciation for small nuances, scale, and proportion, and despite having trademark style, the Owner’s taste (as tastefully as possible) can be incorporated. There is nothing quite as impressive as walking into a home just before “delivery” and coming back in the ensuing days to see the magical transformation, a thousand pieces of fabric, color, and texture layered together, turning an empty shell into an inviting place that the Owner calls Home.
Many certain factors make an amazing Home Builder. Appreciating Architecture is first. Then, having the organization skills to assemble vendors and craftsmen accountable. Confident (which isn’t the same as ego”. They have to be great problem solvers. They also know when to rely on the expertise of a Vendor or Craftsman to develop ways to execute the sometimes-wild ideas of the Architect or Designer. This group is committed to building something we can all be proud of.
