OUR STORY

THREE GENERATIONS AND COUNTING

Burchette & Burchette is a third generation, family owned-and-operated business located in Elkin, North Carolina.

Since 1948, we have specialized in designing and handcrafting custom wood flooring, and architectural elements.

For over 60 years, we have delivered superior service, working with architects, designers, builders and homeowners to deliver custom, handcrafted wood flooring, and architectural elements.

To us, each floor and architectural piece we create is an expression of art through craftsmanship. Tradition, diligence, and personal attention to detail are things we value in every step of our process. Like our customers, wood floors are unique; each hardwood has it’s own history and personality.

We handcraft each board to highlight the features that set it apart, using a variety of surface textures and finishing techniques. The end result is a floor designed and made to fit your personality and fulfill your vision.

We hope you see our commitment and passion to be evident through the quality and experience you will have when we work together. We look forward to working with you.

Construction

Great floors start with great materials.

Traditional Plank – Custom solid plank flooring, precision milled to the highest standards. Each plank is milled with stress relief grooves and a staple seat. Each plank is also end-matched. Width and lengths can be customized to fit your needs.

Architectural Plank – We use the most stable material in the industry, a Cabinet Grade, 11-Ply Baltic Birch core to create our Architectural Plank. We then attach a sawn face cut from the same lumber as the traditional plank; this wear layer is equal to that of the traditional plank. This floor is designed for conditions that are not favorable for a solid wood floor.

Hand Antiqued Textures And Replications

We pride ourselves in the authenticity of reproduced period flooring.
We use period correct tools and methods to handcraft each plank. These textures and antiquing can reproduce the look of a century-old floor with a natural footworn texture and weathered grain.

We can also create a hand scraped texture that replicates the unique texture of a hand-finished floor in the early 1900s. We use a variety of techniques to replicate years of patina that are otherwise created
only by time.

Hand Applied Finishes

For centuries, Artisans and Woodwrights have viewed the finishing stage of their work as the most important and painstaking part of a project. We view this step no differently and stain each plank with our handmade tea stains. We complete the process by hand-finishing each plank with our European Oil or Signature.

When it comes to the finishing touches – Every detail is important.
